Business Insurance for Staten Island Businesses

What business insurance covers

Business insurance protects a company from the costs of lawsuits, damaged property, injured workers and vehicle accidents. Most small operations need several types working together, and the right mix depends on what you do, what you own and how many people work for you.

When you submit a request, it goes to one licensed local partner agency. A licensed local agent will review your operation, compare options from different carriers and explain what fits. We are a referral service, not an insurance company or agency.

Business owner’s policy (BOP)

A business owner’s policy bundles general liability and commercial property into one package. It is built for smaller businesses with a physical location, such as a Staten Island retail shop, salon, office or restaurant. Bundling is often simpler to manage than buying each piece separately, and a partner agent can tell you whether your type of business qualifies.

Many BOPs can also include extras, such as coverage for lost income if a covered event forces you to close temporarily. Your agent can explain which add-ons are available and which are worth considering.

Commercial property

Commercial property coverage helps pay to repair or replace the physical things your business depends on:

  • The building, if you own it
  • Equipment, tools and computers
  • Inventory and supplies
  • Signs, furniture and improvements you made to a rented space

Tenants and landlords have different needs. A shop owner renting on Forest Avenue may only need to insure contents and improvements, while a landlord needs to cover the structure itself. Coastal exposure is a real consideration on the island, so ask your agent how flood is treated, since it is commonly excluded from standard property policies.

Other business coverage lines

Beyond the basics above, your partner agent can look at these separately:

  • General liability insurance for third-party injury and property damage claims
  • Commercial auto insurance for vehicles used in your work
  • Workers compensation for employee injuries and illnesses on the job
  • Group health insurance to offer benefits to your team

Some businesses need all of these, others only one or two. A solo contractor with a single van has different needs from a restaurant with twenty employees.

How to get started

Fill out the short form with a few details about your business. One local partner agency will follow up, review your situation and present options so you can compare coverage side by side before deciding anything.
